The Good Marketers Apprenticeship connects recent graduates with cause-based organizations and our marketing agency partners. This unique experience provides tangible and impactful hands on experience using marketing and advertising to help charities across Canada have an even greater impact with their causes. GMG Apprenticeships last between 4-6 months, are paid, and are often eligible for co-op fulfillment or course credit.

Copywriter

ABOUT YOU

You’re creative-minded and detail-oriented. You love writing and want to put your writing skills to use helping fundraise for charities who are transforming communities. You’re very organized, love details, are a natural communicator, and can manage multiple deadlines and due dates at the same time.

THE GIG

You’ll work with one of our partner agencies and help in the writing of print and digital campaigns, including cultivation and acquisition appeal letters, newsletters, e-newsletters, e-blasts and web landing pages. You may also be asked to help write other items such as case studies, blog posts or press releases.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle multiple demands and meet deadlines promptly.

  • Write clear, expressive, concise, specific and grammatically stellar copy.

  • Adopt different writing voices and styles per client.

  • Take direction and appreciate quality, constructive feedback.

  • Assess information and decipher key points.

  • Understand multiple specific target audiences and write accordingly.

  • Write with specific calls to actions and goals.

  • Use productivity and collaboration tools (Trello, Google Docs, Slack, etc.) consistently and actively.

THE MUST HAVES

  • Post-secondary education or relevant experience.

  • Comfort writing copy for campaigns that are published digitally and in print.

THE NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience working for or volunteering with a charity or nonprofit.
